ARL Prototype Championship

Bring on the hypercars! What better way to introduce the BMW M Hybrid V8 to Apex Racing League than alongside the Dallara P217 in season 5 of the ARL Prototype Championship? The series returns for another 9 rounds racing at the best 2023 IMSA and WEC circuits.

Whilst the tracks chosen for this series loosely follow the IMSA and ESS official series, the main focus is incorporating the best WEC circuits (Spa, Monza, Fuji) and IMSA circuits (Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, Road America) to produce a great roster of 2023 sportscar tracks.

iRacing’s first hypercar has been welcomed by the community after its inception in late 2022. The twin turbo V8 machine recently made a successful special event debut at the Daytona 24 Hours and will be a mainstay in several other endurance races for years to come. Check out the video on the right to see it in a couple of incompetent hands. It joins the well established Dallara P217 this season, one of the most popular sportscars on the service. We are sure to see similar action to the clip below in the 930kg Italian prototype.

Don’t believe you have the pace to fight for wins? We have amateur divisions for both the LMDh and LMP2 classes, meaning that no matter what your level is, you can fight against similarly paced competitors for a championship. Don’t forget the teams championships as well, consisting of groups of 2 to 3 drivers accumulating points to win either an SDK Gaming or Apex Racing Academy team subscription.

Seven of the rounds this season will last an hour, enough time to require a pitstop for both classes. The other 2 will last 75 minutes pushing a one stop to the limit at the legendary venues of Watkins Glen and Sebring, the latter taking place just 2 days prior to the track’s 12 hour iRacing special event. Each race is preceded by a 2 hour practice and 10 minute solo qualifying along with a 20 minute practice race hosted the day prior.

As is the case for all ARL events, the action is broadcast by Apex Racing TV on YouTube, providing pre-race build-up and post-race interviews.
