ARLTC Season 1 Announcement

The ARL TCR Winter series served as a fantastic launch pad for iRacing’s brand new Audi RS3 LMS to hit centre stage and show off touring car racing at it’s absolute best. A packed grid and some of the best tin-top-talent on the service went to battle over 42 individual races across 14 different circuits, and the result was a spectacle to behold!

The PRO series title went down to the absolute wire with Apex Racing Team’s Wojciech Swirydowicz snatching the championship title away from arguably the finest touring car driver on iRacing Jack Sedgwick in the final race. BTCC champion Ashley Sutton showed his undoubted skill and speed having made his way into the showdown, and was joined by many more of iRacing’s best FWD competitors throughout the season

The AM title went to BoosTED Motorsport’s David van Broeck after a monumental battle between tough competition from Kip Stephens, Mark Woodhouse, Michael Blake and team-mate Adam Hedgecock!

ARL TCR Winter Series 2019/20 - Daytona Fireworks

With the winter series already fading into a distant memory, it is now time to prepare to do battle once more in the first official ARLTC championship.

For those of you familiar with the ARLTC, will be glad to hear that the signature 3x 20 minute sprint race format with the “wheel of fortune” reverse-grid will of course remain for another season.

We are once again expecting a full 60-car entry list, so fingers crossed that the “spinny-wheel-gods” are looking down on you favourably! (*offerings are to be made payable to Apex.Racing@…)

The all-important showdown format will also remain, with the first race of the 10 round main season kicking off in exactly 3 weeks time on March 12th at the Mid-Ohio circuit. As always race 1 kicks off at 20:00 UK time, and each event takes place on Thursday nights.

Along the way we’ll visit some of the best circuits in the world including Imola, Brands Hatch & the Nürburgring, with the first of the 4x Showdown events scheduled for the 11th of June and the championship finishing at the awesome Daytona International Speedway on the 9th of July.

Of course we will be broadcasting all of the races LIVE on the iRacing eSports network with over 2hrs of coverage per event thanks to Apex Racing TV. They have a great history with our series, having covered every single BSRTC & ARLTC touring car event on iRacing since the introduction of the KIA Optima.

These races aren’t just about the front of the grid however, with the drivers split into PRO and AM classes, offering an opportunity for both the aliens and the “alien-ish” an opportunity to fight for victories and some silverware.

On that subject, the prize-fund also remains on the table, with the top 3 drivers in both the Pro and AM drivers championships able to get their hands on a share of the prize pot when the final checkered flag drops.

Probably the biggest change for this year’s rules is regarding the team sizes. We will once again reduce the teams by 1 driver, so we have just 3 drivers per-team, with a team’s best 2 results per race counting towards the team’s score.

This was decided in order to help encourage closer competition between the teams, helping make the championship more exciting for everybody!

The entry fees for the championship remain unchanged at £4.17 Ex VAT (£5 Inc VAT) a week, meaning a total cost of £58.33 Ex VAT (£70 Inc VAT) for the full season. As we expect to fill up all of our grid-slots once again, a £16.67 Ex VAT (£20 Inc VAT) deposit that covers the 4x showdown weeks will be taken as confirmation of your entry at the point of registering.

Championship registration and all race entry payments will be made through our online shop when they open (the date of opening will be announced very soon in the ARL Discord) shortly. Make sure that you join us on Discord to ensure that you don’t miss out!!!

Finally, for those occasions where adrenaline boils over and the driving standards don’t quite live up to our expectations, we have an impartial and standalone steward. They are ready to review each and every protest & meatball following the race meetings, awarding license points to any drivers who’s ambitions outweigh their talents. Remember kids, points mean penalties!

Hopefully this quick introduction to our series has your touring car senses tingling, and you are ready to test your mettle in one of the best tin-top leagues in sim-racing.

We hope that you will join us either on the grid, in the Discord or on the broadcasts in March!
