60 minute GTP & LMP2 races
The ARL Prototype Championship is finally back! GTPs and LMP2s return for season 10, beginning Thursday the 19th of March. This season features 9 rounds and is broadcast from the Apex Racing TV Esports Studio.
The schedule for the series follows iRacing’s IMSA sports cars official series, with us visiting legendary sportscars venues like Sebring, Road Atlanta and Road America; popular European tracks like Silverstone, Imola and Hockenheim; as well new circuits to the series with Laguna Seca and Belle Isle. Most races last 60 minutes, however the Sebring and Road Atlanta rounds are extended to 75 minutes, demanding an alternate strategy.
Drivers are entered into pro and am divisions within their car class based on their iRating and ARL experience. This means everyone can compete for a title. Drivers are notified on the weather forecast for the upcoming round in the week leading up to the event – however this is only a forecast, so the exact conditions are uncertain. Only the best 8 rounds for each driver are considered in the standings, so if you need to miss a round, you will still be in the championship hunt.
Maniti Racing dominated in the GTP category last season, with Norbert Tamas ending the season as the pro victor ahead of teammate Balázs Túróczy. Julien Rety comfortably won the GTP ams but the same couldn’t be said for the LMP2 pros as Aston Wilby beat out Benjamin Frigerio by a single point. The LMP2 ams also came down to the final round as Fabio Grassetto won a long overdue ARL for the first time.
Every round of the series is broadcast from the Apex Racing TV Esports Studio by Sam Fitzpatrick and David Sampson, covering qualifying as well as the race with their SDK Gaming overlay and live timing, 3D track maps and interview drivers post race.
