Apex Racing League GT Team Championship - Season 1

Apex Racing League launch their first team series, the Apex Racing League GT Team  Championship! Featuring the 5 GTE cars, teams of two or three drivers will battle in 4 races, each 80 minutes in length. Racing at some classic circuits from the iLMS and IMSA Sports Car Championship official series and with a prize fund of subscriptions to Apex Racing Academy or SDK Gaming totalling £600 value we are sure to see some great racing!

ARL are excited to use this new format, which is sure to shake up the pecking order and bring more strategy to the GT championship. Deciding when to come into the pits, which order to use your drivers and picking your battles against other teams will be crucial for success. Previous renditions of the GT championship have been largely absent of pit stops, meaning the season will be a steep learning curve for the competitors.

The series is open to everyone, regardless of ability. Teams with lower rated drivers will be given an amateur status, enabling them to fight for the amateur title, but still being able to battle with the professional teams on track. With only 4 rounds and no drop weeks, avoiding incidents and errors will be the pivotal factor in the championships.

The Apex Racing League GT Championship has existed for over a year with the two race, solo driver format. The titles from the past few seasons have been dominated by EvoSR, with Tom McMahon winning the past 2 overall drivers championships and EvoSR clinching the past two teams championships. However, others have pushed them hard, with MSignsUK driver, Daniel Lee, finishing runner up in the overall driver’s championship last season and Vanguard Simsports finishing second in the team’s championship in their debut season. Will their success transition to this exciting new Team format?
