Spa returns for the third time in 3 years and this season hosts the opening round. Monza, Le Mans and Road Atlanta also reappear for the first time since season 1. Two of Europe’s most iconic and most satisfying to drive racing venues make their debuts however in the form of Hockenheim and Imola, the latter closing the season on the 10th of October. Rain is a risk, with the teams being notified about the forecast a couple of weeks before each round. Live stewards are on hand to distribute drive through penalties for teams at fault for any incidents.
While the prizes for this season are reduced compared to the past two seasons, we have also reduced the entry fee to just £8+VAT per round, that’s £48+VAT for the season. We are still giving away £1200 worth of Apex Racing Academy subscriptions and this season extend trophies to the top 3 in each class.
GTP fuel tank capacity has been further restricted to 80% for this season in order to force drivers to make 4 pitstops – whether teams pursue 4 equally long stints or 3 full stints and a splash could be important when to claim clean air and maximise their race time. The same conundrum will be posed to the LMP2s, with their lack of tank restrictions also meaning their stints will last around 40 minutes. GTDs are limited to 90% fuel tank capacity, forcing them to make 3 pitstops.
Every round of the series is broadcast on Apex Racing TV’s YouTube channel live from the Apex Racing Esports Studio by Sam Fitzpatrick and David Sampson (Sampsoid). They will be covering qualifying and the race with their SDK Gaming overlay and live timing, 3D track maps and host interviews with drivers post race.
